Tips On DIY Custom Cabinets

Custom cabinet making is expensive since you are paying for the skills and the time spent on building the cabinets that are exclusively for you. In other words, you are paying for the quality that was put into the cabinet.

So, what happens if you are badly in need of a kitchen pantry for your growing family but you don’t have the money for it?  Have you ever thought of the DIYs that can easily substitute these custom cabinets? DIY projects are very popular these days. They are very economical and fun to do.  Don’t expect that same quality that you get from the custom cabinets because they are a far cry from it. However, you will be delighted with the outcome and will even boast about it to your family and friends.

Here are a few tips for your DIY Custom cabinets:

AN OLD BOOKSHELF

Look around your house for an old bookshelf. If you don’t have one, try to secure a used or inexpensive one from the store. At least a 4 or 5 tier will do. Do whatever you want with it. You can finish it with varnish or stain. You can also transform it into a rolling pantry by adding wheels. This makes it ideal for cooking and baking enthusiasts since you can just push and pull the pantry in the kitchen.

OPEN FLOATING SHELVES

You see these shelves somewhere else in your house but seldom in the kitchen, right? Well, it’s time for you to use it as your custom cabinet pantry. Look for an empty space on your wall, and attach the shelves there. To complete the look, put a small table beneath it. If you don’t have a small table, the floating shelves can stand alone. This is perfect for your spices and condiments.

UNDER THE STAIRS

This is a neglected space in your house. Instead of leaving it that way, make use of that space as your pantry.  It may look quite small but you will be surprised at how spacious it can be once you add up the shelves. To make it look even wider, paint it with white color. Don’t forget to put a light bulb inside since this area is a bit dark.

STORAGE BENCH

This bench serves a dual purpose. Most of the time, you use it to hide magazines, books or simply put, the clutter in your house while sitting on it. Instead of using it as such, use it as your pantry cabinet.  Some of your seldom used kitchenware or cookware can be placed here as well. This makes a comfortable place for you to relax on while waiting for your food or cake in the oven.

See how these DIYS can replace the custom cabinets and do wonders to your kitchen. It’s worth a try!
