Tips On How To Avoid Bathroom Cabinet Issues With Your Partner

Okay, so you just got married. Congratulations and good luck to the coming years! Marriage is not all roses, by the way! It is the beginning of a commitment to be with each other through thick and thin. So, expect problems that will rock your relationship every now and then, from tiny little things to bigger things. As you well know, there is a thick line between a man and a woman. You have probably seen this with your own sibling but this time, it’s different. You are sharing your life with your partner. Therefore, share means all aspects in your life.

When you moved into your new house, or whichever house you have agreed on sharing, you will realize the difference. Usually, it is the woman who moves into the man’s house. In this case, prepare yourselves guys because you are in for a big surprise!  Women have a lot of stuff while men have only a few. Imagine boxes of women stuff in your doorway that will invade your minimalist home. Most of these will go to your bedroom and your bathroom cabinets.

I remember a movie where the woman moved into his boyfriend’s home. It was so funny because one day, the man came to look for his stuff in the bathroom cabinet, but when he opened it, what he saw was his girlfriend’s stuff. He could not see his anywhere or probably it was pushed to the back. Well, that is the reality that you will have to face and accept as the years go by.  Acceptance of that fact is getting used to such realities. You can always make a compromise to avoid these little issues if you still want to maintain your individuality.

  • Talk it out with your partner. She may be unaware of what you are going through. It’s best that you meet on common ground.
  • Decide on the space. For example, a bathroom cabinet. Women have plenty of toiletries especially body wash, scrub, and lotions. These will occupy 95% of what used to be your area. You can agree on which space is yours, and which is hers.
  • Make use of shelves to organize your stuff. One shelf is yours, and another, is hers. This will make it easier for you to look for your stuff.
  • Agree on the stuff that will occupy the bathroom cabinet. Your partner may have plans of her own like putting the towels at cabinet A, and you got used to it at cabinet B.
  • Agree on the time. This is a familiar scenario when both of you go to work at exactly the same time and you only have one bathroom. It is advisable that one of you wakes up earlier to make use of the bathroom while the other one is still asleep. In that way, your paths will not cross. Unless of course, if you bathe together.

The bathroom cabinet is not the major issue in your relationship.  It is just a fraction of the other issues that will come into your lives. What is important is your willingness to submit yourself to the changes around you.

Therefore, don’t get intimidated with your partner’s stuff, welcome it with open arms and the tiny little issues that come with it are actually the spices to your relationship.
